How To Start Speaking English With Question Phrases
If you are struggling to make a start in English speaking, I have a good & bad news for you. Bad news is that most of the learners are unaware of an easy way that can help you make an easy start in learning English speaking. Good news is that I am going to teach you this art with a lot of examples to follow. Asking questions is a great way of creating content in English & making a winning start. Here you will find a lot of question phrases mentioned below with examples. Your job is to practice them aloud with your partner & create new sentences with mentioned phrases.

How much - कितना (Uncountable) आपको कितना पानी चाहिए?How much water do you need?
How many - कितना (Countable) आप वहां कितनी बार गए हैं?How many times have you been there?
Which one - कौन सातुम्हें कौन सा पसंद है?Which one do you prefer?
Until when - कब तकतुम वहाँ कब तक रुकोगे?Until when will you stay there?
Since when - कब सेआप अंग्रेजी कब से सीख रहे हो?Since when have you been learning English? (Asking a fixed time)
For how long - कब से/कितने समय सेआप कितने समय से अंग्रेजी का अभ्यास कर रहे हैं?For how long have you been practicing English? (Asking a period of time)
With whom - किसके साथआप किसके साथ अंग्रेजी का अभ्यास करते हैं?With whom do you practice English?

About whom - किसके बारे मेंयह किसके बारे में है?About whom is this? OR This is about whom?
To whom - किसकी तरफतुम किसकी तरफ इशारा कर रहे हो?Whom are you pointing to?
By whom - किसके द्वारायह किसके द्वारा लिखा गया है? By whom is this written?
From where - कहाँ से, जहाँ सेआप कहाँ से आ रहे हैं ?From where are you coming?
For what - किसलिएआपको कैंची किसलिए चाहिए ?For what do you need scissors?
How far - कितना दूरतुम्हारा घर कितना दूर है?How far is your house?
How good - कितना अच्छायह इमारत कितनी अच्छी है?How good is this building?
How long - कितना लम्बा/ कब से/ कितना समयइसमें कितना समय लगेगा?How long will it take?
How soon - कितनी जल्दीआप यह काम कितनी जल्दी समाप्त कर सकते हैं? How soon can you finish the work?आपको कितनी जल्दी चाहिए?How soon do you need it?
How old - कितना पुराना/कितना बड़ा (उम्र में)यह इमारत कितनी पुरानी है? How old is this building? आपकी उम्र क्या है? How old are you?
In what way - किस तरह सेइस सवाल को आप किस तरह से हल करते हैं? In what way do you solve this question?
What else - और क्याआपको और क्या चाहिए? What else do you want?
What then - तो क्या/तब क्या/फिर क्यामैं वहां जाऊंगा, फिर क्या? I will go there, what then? मैंने यह कहा, तो क्या?I said this, what then?
What type of - किस तरह कीआपको किस तरह की किताबें पसंद हैं? What type of books do you like?
Which type of + Noun - किस तरह/प्रकार कायह किस प्रकार की किताब है? Which type of book is this?
One of the challenges that the learners of English speaking often face is how to keep going while talking in English. Most of the learners would make a decent start but lose steam as they go along because of lack of content. The technique of asking questions goes a long way in helping learner his/her cherished goal of speaking English fluently as the learners are able to create content for practice.
It will be advised to start with question words & then go on to practicing question phrases. While question words are limited in number, question phrases come in different varieties. A phrase is nothing but a combination of two or more than two words; therefore, a question phrase contains a question word and another word or sometimes two words.
It will be a good idea to have a partner with you who wants to learn English & have a list of questions that you have made. Similarly, ask your partner to make a list of question words & question phrases & ask each other questions & give answers to the questions asked. You will find that your hesitation of speaking English will be gone soon & you will be able to make a very effective start in being a fluent English speaker.
